Pashtuns are strict muslims and as such believe that the holy Quran is the unquestionable word of Allah (god). It literally means "that which is often recited". A web of rhythm and meaning, the words of which throb through Muslim worship and which, at every point in the believer’s life , break surface, sanctifying existence with the scent of eternity.

The Quran was revealed to the prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) over 1400 years ago through the angel Jibril (Gabriel) incrementally over a period of 23 years. It is considered by Muslims to be a miracle in itself from a scientific and literary perspective. Such is the reverence of the Quran that it has been memorised from cover to cover by millions of Muslims around the world.

What is Quran Tajweed?

 

Tajweed is a set of rules for the correct pronunciation of the letters with all its qualities and applying the various recitations. When reciting the Quran, it means giving every letter of the Quran its rights and dues of characteristics and observing the rules that apply to those letters in different situations. Dues are given by observing the characteristics of each letter that are present in them some of the time and not present at other times.

Why Quran Tajweed?

​

Reciting Quran should be in the presence of one's heart, with full understanding and believing that those are the words of Allah, the Exalted - not the words of man. The Muslim should interact with every ayah with its appropriate meaning and understand each message of the Holy Quran with full recognition that it is directed to him especially. In addition to these internal manners of reciting Quran, there is a lot of external manners.

Who Teaches the Quran Tajweed Classes?

Pashtun Trust is proud to be supporting Mr Khalid Ahmad Khattak in bringing free tajweed classes to the community. Khalid has a number of engineering based qualifications from UK universities. He is also currently pursuing a BA in Islamic Studies from Knowledge International University where he has also studied Tajweed. He has been granted permission to teach Tajweed of Qaida Nooraniya, Juz Amma and Surah Baqarah from Ustadh Khalid Sadaat.
